Best Climbing Experience

Climbing a route that scared the pants off me at Trowbarrow, Lancashire (Outdoor). It was a popular route to the left, far end of the quarry so the grade was relatively low (possibly HVS), but as this was only my second outdoor experience it truly got my adrenaline going. My climbing partner wimped out on leading about halfway up and ascended via a get-out route adjacent. Being brave I decided it was still possible, despite my partner being unquestionably a more rounded and experienced climber. The route was so well used it was pretty well polished, particularly on the slabby start. The route followed a prominent crack which ran vertical with a dogleg halfway up. I found myself quaking practically the whole way up and basically clinging on for grim life as if I were climbing it unaided. When I eventually reached the top I was completely bowled over, even if a string of expletives had been firing from my mouth the whole way up. I was, as the Americans would say, psyched! Truly scared for most of the way up, I can just remember reaching ever deeper into the crack to stop my shaking limbs from coming loose! Brilliant.
