According to 8a.nu - and confirmed by Swiss newspapers - he phoned his parents late on Friday, unaware that someone with his passport had been stoned to death in Kabul, Afghanistan, one of two people who died in a brutal killing. Not many people get to read their obituaries - we hope Elie keeps his, and makes them redundant in short order.
