Tony Simpkins (profile) in the UKClimbing.com Winter Climbing forum (here) has pointed out a very useful resource for those interested in checking conditions in the Lake District, whether you are after mixed climbing on Scafell or fancy doing Striding Edge.
Tony writes, "To get an idea of general conditions in the Lakes keep an eye on Ann Bowker's website (here). She seems to go for a walk in the Lakeland fells most days and always posts a photographic record. Damn good photographer too."
If it were in Scotland, it would be a Munro. It has a couple of interesting ways to the summit in winter conditions - It's a lot more than a long boggy plod. The Whitewater Dash waterfall on its northern flanks can give good sport in a really hard winter (fat chance we'll se that frozen again in a hurry)
