Marketing Department loses the plot

© unknown (Fairview Homes?)
Property Week, one of the country's top weekly property magazines, recently published an advert from house builder Fairview ( web site ) showing an alarming belaying technique under the slogan "someone you can rely on".

If only Fairview knew what their publicity guys have done to them! Or do they know something about lightweight climbing that we've missed?

ahh don'tcha just love it when a marketing dept gets it soo wrong in relation to climbing! Even better I remember a seamless switch in one advert/vid from a leading situation with a fall mid route to then suddenly the person topping out on a TOP rope.. i mean come on just a little bit of thought please! You've gone to the effort of going to a place, getting the camera's, the climbing people, H&S, planning etc to then mess it up so that all us climbers just go pha and laugh at it,,

well mI2 yes that was pants,, but vertical limit was just a laugh a minute, it's when they are using real climbers in real situations to advertise - yet still get it wrong,, films are not really meant to be true representations are they?

The belayer looks left handed, well his watch is on his right hand at least.

What was wrong with MI:2. In an interview when critisied about the realism of the climbing intro, John Woo's reply was, "Is the rest of the film realistic? No. Why should I make the intro realistic just to please a bunch of climbers?" or words to that effect. I think he was right. I actually thought the climbing sequences were pretty good and that Cruise moved pretty well. Looked like a climber to me!
