click for map/photo The healthy North Wales climbing scene has another arrow in its quiver. If all the access work, rebolting of the slate, a new guidebook, new energy in the BMC Area meetings wasn't enough there is now a new "local' pub and campsite just outside Llanberis at Cwm-y-glo.
The Snowdonia Inn or Y Fricsan Pub/Campsite has been bought by local climbers Ted Sylvester and Sue Harwood (DMM Sue to some, as her day job is Sales at DMM).

This weekend sees the official opening, starting tonight with a whole host of bands, food and beer. Music includes: Cidfloss Corporation, Something Personal followed by Red Stripe, Noel, Merlin + Liam - mixing tunes, Bandacabana, and world class jazz from Huw, Maria & Zoot Warren.
The Y Fricsan is also the focal point for a North Wales bouldering meet, this weekend, organised by Chris Davis, see a report by Simon Panton at northwalesbouldering.com
The Y Fricsan is set on 8 acres of land and includes a large campground and bunkhouse accomodation. They serve excellent homemade food (I've sampled it - the tuna was great) and good beer. Sue said that they will be moving to almost exclusively organic and locally produced in the future. Both omnivores and vegetarians are catered for.
