© Alastair Lee - Posingproductions.com
On Friday 16th May, Andy Mitchell repeated Dave Birkett's Pavey Arch masterpiece Impact Day E8. Mitchell has now repeated quite a few of the Birkett Lakeland desperates including; Nowt But A Fleein' Thing E8 and Dawes Rides a Shovel Head E8.

Impact Day has seen a few repeat ascentionists over the last few years - including John Dunne and George Ullrich. Originally graded E9, the route saw an amazing onsight attempt by a young Ben Bransby, who fell from the final moves during what was one of the hardest onsight efforts ever seen in the UK.

Andy Mitchell, 39 years old of Broughton in Furness, is a full time teacher and a devoted father. Congratulations to him on these excellent ascents.
