Robyn Erbesfield - Still Cranking at 45

© Robyn Erbesfield
Dougald MacDonald reports on the US website Climbing.com that Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou has recently redpointed the route Bad Attitude F8b+ at the crag St. Antonin Noble Val near to her summer home in France. The four times former world-champion is no stranger to hard climbing, having already succeeded on two routes of this grade back in 1993, but the 45 year old mother of two has not tried a route of this standard for nearly 15 years.

Erbesfield has more recently concentrated on her family and career but was motivated to push herself harder after a family climbing trip to Spain's Rodellar last summer.

Another climber who has regained top form is the 46 year old former French competition star and hard route pioneer, J B Tribout. Having returned to climbing over the last three years he has recently managed to onsight F8a+ and redpoint two routes of F8c. You can view his 8a.nu scorecard HERE and read an interesting interview with him on 8a.nu HERE.

I wonder if he calls himself Didier Erbesfield-Raboutou

Robyn told me that Didier climbs with the family, but he's way more into cycling, doing some hard-core races.

Good effort! I know the area around St. Antonin well. There is no crag called St. Antonin Noble Val though - that's the town name, there are many different ones! If it's a F8B+ it was probably at Mango Carn...
