Long range forecast looks good this winter, if you trust such things. There's even a 25% chance of a white Christmas for northern Britain according to some!

Still, if the freeze is a little slow, or even not, here's a chance to hone your tooling technique with the first, Scottish Tooling Series 2008 organised by Glenmore Lodge. It's not just for experts, the routes at the five venues involved also include routes for beginners.

There will be a series of 5 one day events being held over 6 weeks, at 5 different host venues as follows:
Avertical World - Dundee: Nov 8th
Edinburgh International Climbing Arena: Ratho, - Edinburgh: Nov 15th
Extreme Dream Climbing Wall - Aviemore: Nov 29th
Glenmore Lodge - Aviemore: Dec 6th
Ice Factor - Lochaber: Dec 13th

WORLD PREMIERE - Echo Wall
Included at the Edinburgh Festival is the world premier of Claire and Dave MacLeod's film, Echo Wall, documenting Dave's ascent of the route that is “harder than Rhapsody or anything else I've been on”.
