Kevin has been working with us since last November, starting as Assistant Editor, looking after and developing our Destination Articles. Kevin is building up a database of destination articles that are a superb and up to date resource for climbers all over the globe. Read the latest one here: Colorado Ice.
Next to get the Kevin Avery treatment is our Gear Page.
UKClimbing.com publish authentic, real gear reviews from our staff, our users and our gear review team. Kevin will be coordinating these reviews and making sure that we cover all the gear that is of interest to our readers.
Gear reviews are vital to UKClimbing.com for several reasons. They keep our readers (that's you!) informed about which products are available and what their strengths and weaknesses are. They also help UKClimbing.com forge links with gear manufacturers, who are crucial to the continuing success of the site.
We take gear very seriously at UKC and we believe that we have some of the most in-depth reviews in the outdoor industry. Each item of gear gets a thorough testing and each review concentrates on just one piece of gear, showcasing it in words and photographs and exploring all aspects of that item.
Our reviews are archived, searchable and categorised by gear type and by brand. Our reviews score extremely highly in Google searches, and we work hard to provide accurate and useful information. Try typing "DMM Review" in to Google.
The Forum Threads associated with the reviews contain valuable information from other site users. Please do contribute if you have experience of the gear being reviewed. Forum Threads are now being sampled and embedded in to the actual News and Articles pages and will soon be embedded in Gear Review pages also. At UKClimbing.com the Forum Thread is part of the review.
UKClimbing.com is growing at a fast pace. Last year we published over 240 articles as well as our daily news items, weekly gear reviews and regular product news and now Outdoor Industry News.
We are currently having a redesign of the site, with key pages such as the News Page and the main Articles Page now being live in their new formats. Next on the list is the Home Page - watch this space.
We have a staff of five active climbers, spread across the UK, all as enthusiastic about the website as they are about the recent conditions on the Grit or on the Ben.
