Fairbridge support young people aged between 13-25, helping them to develop skills and confidence. The young people often face multiple issues, ranging from school exclusion and homelessness to anti-social behaviour, crime and substance misuse.
Fairbridge often use outdoor activities as part of their work, including rock climbing. In Gaz's local area - North Manchester, the Fairbridge teams regularly visit the Lancashire quarries, an area close to Gaz's heart.
Commenting on his new role, Gaz said:
“I am excited to be a supporter of Fairbridge North Manchester and the valuable work that they carry out with young people in the local area. Having grown up in Bury it is great to not only get involved with a charity that supports young people from my home town, but that also uses challenging outdoor activities as one of their means of personal and social development.
Many of the young people that the North Manchester team engage are facing a number of issues in their lives and the range of activities offered by Fairbridge go a long way in supporting them to achieve their dreams and aspirations. I look forward to developing my relationship with the team and getting more involved in the coming months.”
