Adam Jeewooth, a member of the British Bouldering Team, has climbed the F8c Unjustified at Malham Cove, Yorkshire.

Jeewooth, from Lower Darwen in Lancashire, has rocketed through the grades in the last few years - going from leading F7a on his first day sport climbing at Malham back in 2007 to climbing Unjustified F8c three years later.

Adam recently spent three months in Europe on a sport climbing trip (he's featured in this Friday Night Video) where he climbed hundreds of routes, including 3 F8a on-sights, 5 F8a flashes and one F8a+ flash.

"I started bouldering at BoulderUK in Blackburn when it opened in 2003. Since then I've been hooked! Initially I was a plastic puller, only bouldered and was very strong but had no technique!" commented Adam.

"I have previously red-pointed French route grade 8b+ - Traverse of the gods - at Craigy Longridge" he said.

Traverse of the Gods is a long stamina traverse boulder problem on Craig y Longridge in Lancashire. Due to the length of the problem a route grade is an appropriate way of describing the difficulties.

Unjustified is fast becoming THE 8c to do in the UK. Recently we reported that Dan Walker had made an ascent (UKC News), and we also heard that Paul Reeve had clipped the chains too. It is also reported on UKBouldering that Rob Napier has also made an ascent.

Commenting on his ascent, Adam Jeewooth said:

"I had flashed the crux boulder problem of the route the week before using poor technique and power. On Sunday 30th of May, I went back to the cove with nothing in mind, on-sighted Mescalito - 7c+, putting clips in. I then decided to have another look on Unjustified; the moves felt hard but I had done them all and was getting some good links. Despite this, I keep getting 'the fear.'

I then returned on Monday 31st May and made good progress, linking it in 2 sections - telling myself to “man up” all the way. Two days later I returned after a rest day at work and was convinced I could do it. I sent it 3rd red-point after falling off the boulder problems twice due to nerves."

Adam is sponsored by Evolv , Metolius and BoulderUK.

Nice one Adam.

Have to admit I read the headline (on Google reader) as referring to an 8c where the grade wasn't justified! But perhaps that's a deliberate joke?

Refreshingly honest account of the ascent! It sounds like this guy can go much much harder if 8C comes so quickly... Impressive stuff!
