Yuji Hirayama flying in Yosemite

Yuji Hirayama has broken the record for free climbing El Cap's Salathé Wall. He led the 35 pitch route in 13 hours, 6 hours quicker than Tommy Caldwell's first-ever one day ascent, which he completed in 19 1/2 hours last August. Yuji first climed the route in 1997 in his historic attempt to on-sight the whole thing. During his time in the Valley, Yuji got close to breaking last year's record on the Nose when he and Hans Florine topped out after 3 hours and 26 minutes, 2 minutes behind Timmy O Neil and Dean Potter's incredible climb last year. With the best season for Yosemite climbing now upon us, expect some more impressive stuff over the next month.
