Alaska 2011 by Jon GriffithFri Night Vid

Well it's Friday night again and this week we are staying in with a cold beer and a glimpse of what it is like to race your way up one of the world's most iconic alpine routes - the Cassin Ridge on Denali.

British alpinists Jon Griffith and Will Sim made a very fast ascent of the Cassin Ridge earlier this year (UKC News) and despite their lung-busting time, Griffith still carried his camera.

The film is mainly shot on a weighty full-frame Canon 5d mkII but Jon did switch to a smaller Panasonic GF2 'micro four thirds' camera to save weight on their speed ascent.

Jon Griffith of Alpine Exposures introduces his video:

"This Spring myself and Will headed off for our second trip to the Denali range in Alaska. Our oringinal plans were scuppered due to bad weather but we managed to climb Denali by its classic West Buttress route as well as single push the Cassin Ridge. All round a fun trip out with good company and some fun climbing. Enjoy!"
