Dave Barrans - Brownian Motion - ChevinVideo

© Bystander Films
In this short video from Bystander Films we see Dave Barrans grab the third ascent of the gritstone boulder problem Brownian Motion at West Chevin Boulders, Yorkshire.

The problem, first climbed by Andy Brown, was originally graded 7C+, as Andy (who is very tall) utilised a toe hook on the left arete. The problem seems to have settled at 8A+ for people with normal length legs!

Below is the video of Dave Barrans and Tom Newman on the problem.

Dave Barrans is sponsored by prAna, Metolius, Evolv

What's that strange shoe he is wearing in some of the cuts (very visible at 1:23)? Looks like a Scarpa Vapor S with the toe section replaced by the front of an Evolv Shaman. If this is the case, it gives an interesting insight into the Evolv prototyping process.
