© Mike Coxsey The first round of the 2012 bouldering World Cup was held over the weekend of the 14th and 15th of April in Chongqing, China.
British boulderer Shauna Coxsey made it to the finals and placed in 4th.
Shauna told UKC:
"I didn't expect to make it to finals at all, there was a very strong list of women at the comp and I had a horrible cold when I arrived in China. I was really happy that I could climb at all. Qualifiers were really fun and semis and finals were really hard. I made a few silly mistakes at the comp and I think the experience has taught me a lot. I am really looking forward to the rest of the season!"
Also competing for Britain was Mina Leslie-Wujastyk, who came in 17th place.
Austrian power-house Jakob Schubert took first place in the men's, which is interesting as Jakob won last year's Lead competitions. Japan's Akiyo Noguchi took first place in the women's. Full results of the competition are on the IFSC website.
Chongqing was the first round of the World Cup 2012 and there are 4 more to go. Good luck to all the British Team!

Both Shauna and Mina are part of the British Bouldering Team, who are supported by the BMC.
