Steve McClureFriday Night Video

I picked this up late this afternoon and loved it, especially as the UKC/UKH/Rockfax team are going on a climbing trip to Ariège in the French Pyrenees tomorrow.

Watching well-shot videos of top climbers does inspire me; it's good for the psyche - I want to climb like that and now - but also I often learn something, especially from a master like Steve McClure, and I hope you do.

So thanks Steve and thanks Alastair for this great clip; all we've got to do now is find some soft touch holiday 7a's to throw ourselves at!

About The Video

Alastair Lee of Posing Productions writes: The second in our series of unseen archives from the Posing Productions' footage vault. This clip was shot with a fancy polecam set up at the sport climbing area of Rodellar in Spain. Clip features top UK climber Steve McClure on a couple of routes including the classic 'The Dolphin' (El Delfin) 7c. Amazingly we never found a use for such quality footage: see more at www.posingproductions.com

I take it from your blog we were a week or so too early for real hot rock? Incidentally, I tore an intercostal a couple of days after getting home and now can't climb at all so timing was ok really... Jon

All this video says to me is: sport climbing is rubbish. So he did something really difficult to do. But if he'd failed, then what? Nothing. I do difficult stuff every day. Stuff most people really couldn't do. Mostly I succeed. I don't want to fail but sometimes I do. I don't get a video. What's the difference? He's no prettier than I am! Sport climbing is rubbish.
