New 5.14d (9a) for Jonathan SiegristVideo

Jonathan Siegrist has been a huge force for bringing the mythical 5.14d (9a) grade to the U.S., where it has been relatively rare compared to Europe.

In recent years, he has completed first ascents of the 5.14d's Shadowboxing in Rifle, La Reve in Arrow Canyon, and Pure Imagination in the Red River Gorge. Now, he has established the 40-meter Algorithm (5.14d) in the Fins, Idaho. This makes the first of the grade in the state. It is also unique in its style: just off vertical, technical crimping and pocket-pulling, and not the usual overhanging athletic pump-fest that define most routes of the grade. On his blog, Siegrist remarked that Algorithm is "One of the proudest FAs of my career. Stoked ... super stoked!"

This video really brings this climb, and climber, to life. Great work from 3 Strings Media: Andy Mann and frequent Rock and Ice photographer Keith Ladzinski.

Looks cool, in a vert techy and knarly sort of way :) Cool looking location!
Nice video, the climbing looks awesome. Good to see a hard line that's not as overhanging as it is high.

Yep, nice little film. Being crap at anything overhanging, it's actually far more "relatable" for me too compared to most hard sport vids. It might only be a 6b+ for me, but that feeling of snatching between holds knowing that if you don't hit it you just can't stay in balance is familiar. Americans do speak funny though! :)

Anyone know where The Fins are in Idaho?

I take it nobody knows where the Fins are then.
