Forecasts from the Sportscotland Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) will soon start for this season - and with heavy snow already lying in many upland areas they can't come too soon.
Avalanche Information Reports will be issued for the weekend 7-9 December for the Northern Cairngorms and Lochaber areas only.
Daily reports of mountain conditions in all five SAIS areas (Lochaber, Northern Cairngorms, Southern Cairngorms, Glen Coe and Creag Meagaidh) will then commence properly on 13 December.
