American climber Tommy Caldwell has been trying to free climb his long-term project the Dawn Wall on El Capitan for around five years now.

The route, if climbed, will be undoubtedly one of the hardest rock climbs in the world.

We have reported on some of his attempts on UKClimbing.com, and the last few times Tommy has been up on the wall, he has been updating his Facebook page with messages and photographs.

Updating social media whilst climbing is becoming more and more popular, in fact right now you can follow British mountaineer Andy Kirkpatrick who is attempting a winter ascent of the Troll Wall in Norway, as Andy's Facebook page is being updated by his climbing partners with photos as they climb.

But what is interesting is that Tommy's efforts, and his Facebook activity, have been picked up by Facebook themselves and featured on their Facebook Stories page.
