Pete Bridgwood and Andi Turner have just managed to successfully complete the Staffordshire Grit Challenge; 'Brown-Whillans Day Out'. In doing so they also broke the record set by Tom Randall and Pete Whittaker. (UKC News Report)
Setting off early to avoid the heat, the pair chased the shade starting at the Roaches and climbing the first 15 routes there in 3 hours and 14 minutes. They then headed on to Hen Cloud, climbing the next 9 routes, bringing them up to 6 hours 3 minutes. Finally they headed to Ramshaw to climb the final 6 routes, finishing them in 7 hours 31 minutes altogether. They then realised that Pete and Tom had included Ramshaw Crack, completing the challenge in 9 hours and 56 minutes. So Andy and Pete had a short break and then climbed Ramshaw Crack, finishing all the routes in 8 hours and 41 minutes, cutting 1 hour and 15 minutes off Pete and Tom's time.
Andi commented on the day:
