Teenagers Ruben Firnenburg (16) from Germany and Domen kofic (19) from Slovenia have done one 9a each in Spain.
This time of year, traditionally a lot of strong climbers gather in Spain to celebrate and perhaps do some climbing. This year was no different and a lot of young talent is there as we speak.
It's going to be very interesting to see what the likes of Alex Megos, Sasha Digiulian, Matilda Söderlund, Mélissa Le Nevé, Nalle Hukkataival and... many more will get done this coming week(s).
Ruben and Domen can already relax. Ruben managed to repeat Chris Sharma's Era Vella at Margalef, while Domen did Estado critico at Siurana.
The latter was the first ever confirmed 9a to be onsighted when Alex Megos managed this feat back in March this year (still 2013).
Domen comments on facebook that he: ...needed 6 tries and I fell from the top 3 times. Felt soo easy didn't even get pumped this time. Respect to Alexander Megos for the on-sight ... crazy! I can imagine flashing it with good tick marks but not on-sighting even in my dreams.
