The GB Bouldering Team Crowd Funding initiative has been a huge success. The team raised their £8000 in a single day. They have now raised £9495 and still rising.
We are trying to organise getting a logo on our kit that reads something like "Supported though Crowd Funding by amazing people".

The team had suffered a last minute loss of £8000 of funding due to a sponsor having financial difficulties, and many of the team members had to pull out of the competitions. Thanks to the generous nature of the climbing community, the team are now back in action.
The GB bouldering team also contribute their own money to travel to these competitions. The funding they get from sponsors and from the BMC does not cover all their costs, so any additional money raised through the crowd funding platform will continue to go towards travel costs for the team.

Team member Mina Leslie-Wujastyk told UKClimbing:
"A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us! We have raised our target and this gets us back to where we were before our lost funding! We are now able to part fund 3 team members for the full season and 7 team members to 4 European events. We couldn't have done this without you!
We are going to shorten the timescale on this Crowd Funder as we hit our target so soon but we will keep the site running up until the first World Cup (3-ish weeks) so that if people want to keep donating then they can - all further donations will continue to go towards travel costs for the team, reducing the level of self-funding for team members. Thank you all so much!"
With the additional media coverage the crowd funding exercise has generated, the GB team now have several leads for sponsorship deals for next year. However they don't want to ask for any more money from the climbing public.
"We all felt that the climbing community has been amazing and really come through for us and we don't want to move the goal posts or ask for more than the original target. So we will just leave the funding page online for people that may want to be involved or for organisations outside climbing that may come across it."
UKClimbing.com is proud to support the GB Team and will continue to report on this crowd funding and the teams efforts in the world cup competitions.
