Top Japanese climber, Yuji Hirayama, is currently in the UK and has just climbed John Dunne's steep Pembroke testpiece, The Big Issue, E9 6c at Bosherston Head. After working it on top-rope, Yuji headpointed the route placing all the gear on lead.
Yuji is over in the UK with James Pearson and Caroline Ciavaldini where he has been having his first taste of British trad climbing in one of the UK's finest climbing destinations; Pembroke. Yuji's first route was the classic E3, Pleasure Dome, climbing White Heat, E5 6b, soon after before switching his attention to The Big Issue.
Yuji Hirayama is a very accomplished all-round climber, with first ascents to his name up to 9a+, the first 8c onsight in the world and speed records on The Nose on El Capitan.
