Chris Sharma on El bon combat, ~9b/+Video

© Ricardo Giancola

In early March, Chris Sharma made what's probably his hardest first ascent to date, El bon combat at Cova de Ocell near Barcelona. Now there is some video footage.

In the video, the route is called "...the world's hardest climb"*. Let's not blame Chris for that as I'm pretty sure these were not his words...

The route looks quite varied, with a mix of big powerful moves between decent holds, and big powerful moves between...not so decent holds. Whether this is how it must be climbed, or if it's just Chris' style, I guess remains to be seen.

*Chris suggested ~9b/+ for the route, and as there are three** routes for which 9b+ have been suggested, one of which he made the second ascent of, this doesn't seem very likely.

**Ok, four if we count Chilam balam, but Adam Ondra repeated it and suggested it was more like 9b
