Slow MomentsFri Night Vid

© UKC News

Tonight's offering is something a bit different - it's World Cup bouldering like you've never seen it before (well, unless you saw last year's video). This film by Louder Than Eleven productions gives a slow motion insight into some rarely captured moments of competition bouldering that would otherwise be overlooked.

It's slightly odd, a bit wacky and very mesmerising, showing off the subtleties of movement which decide between success and failure (with some great facial expressions thrown in for good measure...)

Look out for British athletes Shauna Coxsey and Nathan Phillips.

Great vid, beautifully put together with real attention to detail, like the sounds, colours and different speeds. It's interesting what you see in slow motion that is easily missed at normal speed. The climbing sequences are especially interesting. You really get to appreciate the movements when in slomo. Its a shame there's not a few more here. Last year's Slow Moments is also really good, even better perhaps, with a wonderful flying sidelever by Akiyo Noguchi amongst other good stuff. https://vimeo.com/97778435

Pretty amazing to see how much stress the body is under when climbing, slo mo really brings it home. Great vid.
