BMC's Better Bolts Campaign Launched

© BMC
The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) have purchased £10,000 worth of Fixe glue-in and Petzl expansion bolts to be donated to established local/regional bolt funds. Applications are to be made to the appropriate BMC Area Committee and are not available to individuals. This is part of the BMC's Better Bolts Campaign that also includes a new bolters Installers Guide written by experts from the BMC Bolts Working Group that includes chapters on Conservation, Anchor Choice & Installation Advice, Homemade Bolts, Keeping Records and Corrosion. The Installers Guide (a draft version) is available as a free download here.

So if you have routes in your local area that have corroded or damaged bolts get in touch with your local bolt fund or BMC area committee. If there isn't a local bolt fund get in touch with the BMC and they will give you advice on how to start one.

Bolts will be donated for replacement only, on established bolt protected climbs, for specific projects.

To make an application, or for further information, please contact Dan Middleton at the BMC office, email at dan@thebmc.co.uk or call 01614383326
