Yet Another V14 (Font 8b+) For Tyler Landman

On the 7th September, dual British/US citizen Tyler Landman (15) continued his climbing love affair with the high-elevation alpine bouldering in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) in Colorado (USA) with an ascent of Daniel Wood's Aslan, V14 (Font 8b+).

In August, Landman repeated Daniel Wood's Jade, a V15 or Font 8c in Upper Chaos Canyon saying that, "For me this problem marks a new level in my climbing. I think it is an important testpiece for my generation, and that things will only get harder." (see UKClimbing.com report)

Prior to this in May after the snows had melted, Landman repeated another Wood's V15 in the RMNP, Ode to the Modern Man, which Landman thought to be more like, V14/15.

Aslan is a power endurance problem starting up a overhanging nose then traversing across a steep wall.

You can watch a video of Daniel Wood's climbing Aslan, filmed by Chad Greedy. Yes there is screaming and yes the videographer needs to STFU, yes there is hip-hop, so if you are over 25 you might not want to watch it, although this over-40 person enjoyed it. Click here

You can read Tyler Landman's list of impressive bouldering ascents here at 8a.nu

RMNP is a summer bouldering area at an elevation range of between 8-11,000ft. The main area is Chaos canyon and it can take over an hours walk to some of the high quality schist boulders where there are around 100 problems usually V7 and above, and no guidebook - word of mouth only to locate the problems.

Tyler Landman is sponsored by Moon Climbing and Five Ten.
