Huber: Three Dolomite Summits and Two BASE Jumps

© Dave Marsh
Thomas Huber has climbed three summits in Italy's Dolomites, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and B.A.S.E. jumped off two of them in a single day.

On Thursday, August 14, 2008, the famed German speed climber and adventurer began his tri-summit/jump quest at 10:30 pm. In the dark, and after some headlamp troubles, he made the top of the Cima Ovest and waited for first light before plunging back to the bottom.

Next on the list was the Cima Grande, this time with his brother Alex. Reaching the summit at 2 pm he then descended several hundred feet to a safe jumping point where he achieved eight seconds of free fall (see the YouTube.com video).
