VIDEO: John Beatty on the Iceland Volcanic Eruption

Many climbers have had their climbing trips disrupted by the volcanic eruption. The BMC has issued a statement to inform all those climbers who hold BMC insurance.

From the BMC Website:

The following information and advice will help BMC insurance holders whose travels plans have been disrupted as a result of volcanic ash over Europe.

In all circumstances, BMC policy holders should first contact their tour operator / airline for guidance on their particular situation.

Useful information can be found on the following websites:
UK Civil Aviation Authority
Foreign and Commonwealth Office

It should be noted that, other than in a Medical Emergency, the BMC insurance claims department is not able to provide any form of assistance in terms of bringing passengers home who are currently overseas.

Fortis Insurance UK, the underwriters for BMC insurance, will be treating the volcanic ash incident as a bad weather event which means policy holders may be entitled to claim under the terms of their travel insurance policy.

John talked at an NMC slide evening recently. His photos are good but what came across best was his personality and experiences climbing and doing other adventurous things.
