Before Kendal: Alpkit's Big Shakeout in the Peaks

© Alpkit
October. Cool weather and the burning colours of autumn when every leaf is in flower. Sticky friction on grit and the start of the mountaineering/climbing festival season with events such as Kendal, Fort William, Llanberis, ShAFF, CWIF, Edinburgh. Soon, the first frosty mornings and flying snow flakes; winter climbing weekends in the Lakes and Scotland.

headhub But Hark!

Before all that is the Alpkit BigShakeOut in the Peak District over the weekend of the 14th to 16th October.

A full on weekend of adventure, music and entertainment: Bouldering, Mountain Biking, Family adrenaline, Bushcraft, Aid climbing, Caving, Bike maintenance, Conservation, Photography, Live music, Lectures, Adventure films, Family friendly, Onsite camping, Hearty food, Locally brewed beers, Slacklining, Kids bouldering comp.

Join the likes of Andy Kirkpatrick (if he survives the Troll Wall), Johnny Dawes, Niall Grimes, mountain bikers Ed Oxley and Benji Haworth, big waller Pete Rhodes, sort out your rope work with Ed Chard, or your mountain first aid with Mike Mowbray and Andy Clark, and of course the whole Alpkit crew: Nick, Chunk, Jim, Pete, Kenny and all.

Alpkit has teamed up with Thornbridge Outdoors to present the Big Shakeout adventure festival, right in the very heart of the Peak District. It combines inspiration and perspiration over a diverse range of courses and experiences in the School of Adventure, before kicking back in the evenings for a mix of music, films and lectures at the Big Shakeout Hub.

There is something for everyone but with a common goal to bring a bunch of like minded people together and have a great time doing what we love, and learning to love something new.

Deadline for weekend tickets is 2nd October: Full details at: www.alpkit.com/bigshakeout/hub
