CIC Hut Closed

© Dan Bailey

The Scottish Mountaineering Club (SMC) have posted a short message on their website:

'Due to storm damage the CIC Hut will be closed until 20th January. We hope to issue weekly bulletins on this situation.'

Recent high winds have damaged the roof of the hut, which stands in an exposed position under the northern crags of Ben Nevis. The CIC is one of five huts owned by the SMC and open to members of other clubs.

The stormy weather is set to continue through the coming weekend.

I was staying some of last week and we spent quite a bit of time getting dripped on, emptying buckets of water outside, and sleeping in the kitchen. Hope it gets fixed soon, a tough job in these winds!

Well done! You're a local and don't use the hut. Thanks for sharing this in such an original and amusing way.
