Sandy Allan, Rick Allen and Cathy O'Dowd are currently on expedition attempting to make the first ascent of Nanga Parbat via the Mazeno Ridge – the longest ridge on any 8000m mountain. The ridge itself includes eight 7000m peaks and has never been climbed all the way to the summit.

British climbers Sandy and Rick have teamed up with South African climber Cathy to attempt what is considered one of the last great challenges of the Himalaya. The ridge has repelled many previous attempts to climb it in its entirety, including an attempt from Sandy and Rick back in 1995.

The team are currently at over 6000m acclimatising. You can keep up with their progress by reading their excellent website which also has full information on their expedition and history of the ridge.

The expedition has several sponsors including Mountain Equipment
