...one of the mountaineering highlights of 2012...

Lindsay Griffin - BMC

British climbers Sandy Allan and Rick Allen have successfully completed the first traverse of the huge Mazeno Ridge, culminating in the summit of Nanga Parbat (8126m).

The ridge itself includes eight 7000m peaks and has repelled many previous attempts to climb it in its entirety, including a previous attempt from Sandy and Rick back in 1995.

  • A full report on their ascent is now on the BMC website.

Very, very impressive, particularly that they had the endurance and tenacity to manage a second, successful, attempt at the summit of Nanga Parbat itself after coming so close at their first attempt.
