Young Scottish Team GB Member, William Bosi (14), has been awarded the 2013 Miquel Trophy at the Commonwealth Games Dinner. The Miquel Trophy is awarded to 'The Most Improved Young Sportsperson of the Year' and this is the first year it has been awarded to a rock climber.

William has been climbing for 6 years and in that time, achieved what would take many a lifetime. In competition climbing he represents Great Britain in both the junior lead and bouldering disciplines, and has finished in 2nd place twice in this season's IFSC Youth Cup in Edinburgh and Norway. Proving that he can cut it in the bouldering discipline as well as lead climbing, William finished 3rd in the European Youth Cup in Laval, France, finishing the European Youth Cup in 2nd place overall. He is ranked 11th in the world in bouldering and 2nd in lead climbing.

William is far from being just a plastic puller, having climbed the 8b+, Slow Food at Ceuse earlier this year. On his blog, William talked about his trip to Ceuse:

"I had great fun climbing at Ceuse and the crag is amazing, but I wasn't so keen on the walk in! At Ceuse I did my first 8b+ Slow Food (6th go) which I really enjoyed as it was crimps in a roof, and my second 8b L'ami de tout le monde, which I think is the most fun route I have ever done.

My tick list included - 3 x 8a (2nd go) Carte Blanche, Bourinator, La couleur du vent; 8a+ Rat man, which unfortunately was a one move wonder but apart from that was good climbing, and lots of easier onsight practice."
