What happens if you take three of the very best competition climbers in the world and pitch them against a highball 8C boulder?
Well, they deliver! Triple ascent of Tokio Muroi's Asagimadara, ~8C, at Mt Mizugake, Japan.
Ok, Adam Ondra is not only the best allround competition climber, but has also been known to play around sometimes outside, and the same goes for Sachi Amma, but I guess it would be fair to call Chon Jongwon a competition specialist? At least until now.
Asagimadara, at Mt Mizugaki was put up by the legendary Tokio Muroi, who, true to his game, didn't use any crashpad. He suggested 6-Dan, the Japanese equivalent of ~8C+ or so. It has since come down to ~8C. I wonder what E-grade it would get...
Climbing without crashpads was, as it turned out, quite risky, as Toru Nakajima, prior to his succesful 2nd ascent, fell from near the top. Luckily, Toru did use crashpads.
The problem had also been repeated by Toshi Takeuchi before the historical triple ascent by Chon, Adam and Sachi. And yes, in case you were wondering, they used crashpads.
