The latest poll regarding climbing accidents from 8a.nu:
12% were hospitalised; 14% had a broken bone (presumably treated as outpatients?); 21% twisted something (eg ankle); 28% said that "Luck saved me"; 25% reported no incidents.
At UKC we can't quite square how there were 14% who had broken bones yet didn't get "hospitalised", unless those who had to stay in had something worse than a broken bone. (Umm, like what?)
Unsurprisingly, 8a.nu has concluded that "climbing is dangerous". Well, we're not going to argue there. Of course, lots of people who've climbed for a while could say that all of the above apply to them.. which presumably makes you a rounded climber.
