Mammut launches new range of “Togir” harnesses

Mammut has launched two new harnesses in time for Spring.  The lightweight Togir is designed for sports climbing whilst the Togir 3 Slide is aimed at squarely at Alpine climbers.

Both styles use Mammut’s innovative split webbing technology.  By splitting the strap into two, Mammut has designed a harness that distributes pressure across the whole width of the waist belt and leg loops.  The result is lower weight and greater comfort.  Both styles also feature four gear loops a drop seat buckle and a patented tie-in protector to prevent the harness from abrasion damage.  The Togir 3 Slide is fully adjustable with three slide bloc buckles.

CAMP Matik

The assisted braking action of the Matik derives from an innovative camming design that makes the device safer and easier on the climber, the belayer, the anchor and the rope

Instead of using a blunt angle to pinch the rope abruptly when the cam is engaged, the Matik is built so the cam rotates in and comes in line alongside rope before it captures the rope completely. This alignment allows a much larger contact area between the cam and the rope (this makes the device more rope friendly than other auto-blocking devices), and the slight amount of slippage that occurs as the cam rotates into place reduce the impact force of a fall. This means less force on the bodies of the climber and belayer, and on the anchor!

In the recent UKC review it received high praise:

"If you are after a well made, high spec assisted breaking device then look no further"
