We caught up with one of Britain's top climbers - James McHaffie - to talk hard routes, Indian Face, 9a sport climbing and what the future holds for him. Extreme soloing by the sound of it.
A fascinating video, he came over as a climber who just loved climbing rather than someone wanting to make a living out of the sport and needing to play the brand messages. He obviously seemed very keen on his Lake District soloing project, but I wonder if he fancies going back to Madagascar for Tough Enough? Having been around a little bit, the climbs "there" strike me as some of the best in the world, certainly for Lake style climbers who like their vertical crimping... I remember being on one route a 1000 feet up on a perfect 50M 7a pitch being a little scared but telling myself this is simply as good as it gets... Happy days,
