Pete Whittaker is one of the world's top big wall solo climbers, having made the first solo-free ascent (in 2016) of Yosemite's notorious 3000ft El Capitan in under 24 hours and the first solo-free ascent of Mt Watkins (2000ft) in just 15 hours (2017). In 2018, Pete followed these significant achievements by completing a sub-24 hour solo of both El Capitan and the 5000ft Half Dome. Pete now returns to theatres with the stories of his many remarkable feats in his second 'audience with…' style theatre show, Fine Lines, presented by Speakers from the Edge.
In Fine Lines, Pete delves into the intricacies of free solo climbing, leading audiences on a narrative spanning from his initial experiences, from the niche discipline of crack-climbing and soloing to his monumental 800m big wall free solo ascent of Norway's Kjerag. Embark on a journey through the evolution and challenges of this remarkable endeavour.
Fine Lines is a show which aims to break down the elements needed to free solo a huge, unpredictable cliff like Kjerag. Pete delves into topics such as risk, danger and mind control, as well as the physical and logistical challenge to enable a successful ascent of this cliff. The show also presents film visuals, with step by step footage of the route, through streams, slime and incredible splitter cracks, from the foot of the cliff to the summit.
