Hanwag's bestselling boots are reborn for 2018 - German bootmaker Hanwag introduces a new and improved version of its bestselling Tatra GTX.

Retaining the quality and fit that has made it such a popular boot, the new Tatra II GTX features a modernised design and reduced weight, as well as advanced new features that promise greater functionality.

New colours and an updated appearance signal the Tatra II's redesign, but it's what's been changed in the construction of the boot that makes the real difference. A new footbed has been developed to offer an optimum blend of moisture-wicking and cushioning underfoot, while an improved construction includes new flex zones around the ankle for greater comfort. The boot's hardware has also been upgraded with cast, rather than stamped, metal lace hooks for significantly more durability. The lacing system itself has also been improved with the introduction of a new locking lace clamp. This clever feature enables you to easily achieve two-zone lacing, enjoying a secure fit around the foot while leaving it looser at the ankle if desired. A new lace hook in the tongue keeps the boot's tongue in place, reducing the risk of rubbing and hotspots.

All Hanwag boots are last constructed and the popular Tatra family features an extensive range of different fits that make it easy to find the perfect option for every walker. As well as male and female specific models, the collection includes standard, wide, narrow and even a specialist bunion fit. The Tatra II GTX retains Hanwag's unique Vibram AW Integral sole which is lightweight yet extremely grippy for outstanding traction on tricky terrain. The boot also features a high-quality nubuck upper and is available with the option of either a durable, waterproof Gore-Tex liner or a soft and hypoallergenic, chrome-free leather lining.

All Hanwag footwear is made in Europe and combines traditional, highly prized construction techniques with new innovations that offer optimum comfort and performance. The Tatra II GTX is a perfect example of Hanwag's almost hand-crafted approach. Each pair of boots is made from 25 carefully selected materials, 110 individual pieces and requiring 106 production steps before being presented to the consumer. The result is a pair of boots that not only offers straight out of the box comfort, but is destined to perform for many years of trekking adventures. Thanks to the cemented construction, the boots can be easily resoled again and again to further extend their lifespan.

As well as being cobbled on a female-specific last, the design of the new Tatra Lady II GTX has been carefully considered by Hanwag's Women's Alliance, a group of female outdoor experts that are working with the brand to ensure that its women's boots offer maximum style, comfort and performance for female hikers. As a result of this, the new Tatra Lady II GTX has been designed with a lower cut cuff that offers greater comfort for women.
