Arc'teryx Academy: Climb Lake District educates on essential skills to enjoy the mountains, trails and lakes safely

The Arc'teryx Academy is thrilled to announce the launch of its Climb Lake District edition from 25 - 26 September 2021 in Langdale, unveiling the ultimate mountain skills weekend for outdoor lovers of all abilities. The Arc'teryx Academy: Climb Lake District promises to deliver an extensive programme across climbing clinics, mountain running sessions, wild swimming and much more. As part of the Arc'teryx Academy event series, it gives participants vital skills to safely enjoy the mountains and a chance to connect with fellow outdoors lovers.

CLIMBING AND MOUNTAIN SAFETY CLINICS

Led by an expert team, climbing clinics include sessions designed for those just starting out such as Outdoor Climbing for Beginners, progression clinics and sessions to educate on essential mountain safety and rescue skills with the 'Building Safe Anchors and Setting up top ropes' clinics taking place on both days.

Climbing clinics will span trad climbing, scrambling, bouldering and rock climbing. Women's specific clinics led by Rachael Crewesmith will be taking place for climbers of all levels of experience, with the 'Women's Introduction to Trad Climbing' and 'Women's Progressing your Trad Climbing' on Saturday.

WILD SWIMMING, TRAIL RUNNING, YOGA AND MORE

After scrambling through breath-taking scenery, attendees can enjoy the ultimate post-climb dip, with swim sessions taking place in the iconic Blea Tarn. Keen runners and newcomers to mountain running alike can develop their skills with specialised clinics on Trail Running Development and Mountain Running skills.

Yoga and pilates sessions will feature on Saturday's schedule to help attendees relax, unwind and stretch out any aching muscles. For those looking to enhance their mountain experience, the Overnight Wild Camp clinic will see participants head for the hills, kitted out with event partners MSR stoves and Therm-A-Rest, for a night under the stars.

Working with Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Climb Lake District will also feature an environmental clinic enabling participants to give back to the outdoors and protect and restore local wildlife habitats. The session will include Sphagnum moss planting, a vital plant in peatlands, wetlands and bogs which combats climate change by locking away carbon, and Dam building too.

BACK TO BASE CAMP

To kick off the Arc'teryx Academy: Climb Lake District, event partner, The Epicentre in Ambleside, will feature a movie night on Friday evening, September 24th at 7pm. Entrance will be free and more details will be added to the event website on September 1st.

Throughout the weekend, the base camp situated in Langdale at The Sticklebarn, will feature a number of brand and event partners on hand on Saturday and Sunday to provide the very best demo gear available - from helmets to harnesses and shoes and climbing gear - available to test out free of charge.

After a jam-packed day climbing crags, running the trails and swimming the lakes, the BBQ at the Sticklebarn on Saturday evening will be the perfect setting to refuel, catch up with friends and enjoy some downtime.

Sounds like a good couple of days to avoid Langdale.

At least they are not referring to it as Langdale Valley in this latest ad.
