Looking for a bit of a bike challenge and spotted the Deadwater 100 yesterday.

On paper it looks great and would suit my complete lack of any technical ability on the MTB.

Before I hit the enter button, can anyone confirm whether I’ve misinterpreted anything. Don’t want to embark on a 100 miler if I’m going to spend most of my time pushing huge sections I can’t technically ride.

Any other beta on the event would be great too.

Much appreciated.

In reply to plyometrics:

A quick look shows it uses the trail centre with, to quote them, mostly red and blue trails and small section of rollable black. So I would say it depends on exactly what you mean by "lack of technical ability". If you dont know how to roll a feature it could get nasty quick.

How many trail centres have you ridden at? If none probably worth heading down to one to get an idea of what those mean (ideally at Kielder since interpretations of what grades mean vary wildly).

In reply to mondite:

Thanks for the advice. Have ridden both Whinlatter and Grizedale, but not any of the reds or blacks.

A trip to Kielder, as you suggest, could be a good shout.
