Shame for Froome, hope he recovers - but great opportunity for G

Bloody hell that is serious! I haven't really been following the Dauphine. I know he's not the best bike handler but he usually avoids crashes like that...

It happened during a recon rather than the race too. A nasty accident, I hope he recovers quickly and fully.

It's a nasty accident at the worst possible time for Froome and Ineos. But Froomes misfortune will be someone else's opportunity, maybe GT will get another crack at the Yellow jersey but who knows what his form is like.  He will be well rested at the very least.

A terrible trio of injuries.

Marianne Vos out of the Women's Tour of Britain as well.

Sounds awful. Hopefully not career ending.

In reply to GravitySucks:

Such a shame. Femur a really nasty injury. Am sure he'll have the best possible rehab. Will be interesting to see how quickly a top Pro can recover from that.

Hopefully opens the tdf right up.

It is said he was riding no hands in order to blow his nose. Since when did a bike racer need either a handkerchief or two hands to do that?

One with a big booger up his nose?

Sorry.

There's a video doing the rounds that was taken a few seconds before the crash where Froomey is taking off a jacket and handing it to a car (or donning it - not sure) and somebody says "don't take any risks Chris!"

He was trying to put it on but the jacket, being so light weight, was being blown around and although he got one arm in the wind was blowing the jacket round and he abandoned trying to get it on. I saw this happen a couple of times during the Giro and it's a very risky manoeuvre if it's wet and or windy.

I see Chris Froome has been awarded the Vuelta title from 2011 when he finished 2nd to Cobo who has had the title stripped due to doping.

Not yet - still time for an appeal.  I don't suppose its a huge comfort to him right now, though !
