Portreath to Devoran cycle trail

I’m wondering which bike to take on this trail, is it suitable for a touring bike? The description says gravel but this can cover a multitude of sins. Are fatter tyres desirable?

Very easy riding, you could do it on a child's trike, anything that rolls would do.
