That’s sad. I remember he rather controversially won a TT I was organising in the 90s. The 2nd placed rider was rather peeved I’d broken the rules by changing Richard’s start time to allow him time to fix a warm-up puncture. The best man won and it would have been disappointing if the fastest rider around the course hadn’t got the trophy.
I enjoyed his Robert Millar book. I gather Pippa Yorke is still rather offended by the publication but to me it seem a fair and not overly critical appraisal of RM’s great achievements.
