A heads up for roadies: the Snake road is going to be closed for repairs from Mon-Fri next week (23rd-27th Oct).
Usually when they do this the roadworks are confined to quite a limited area and still passable with care by bike, and the road is an absolute joy to cycle when you get the opportunity to do so without the niggling feeling that you're about to be catapulted over the armco by some dickhead outraged that you've dared to delay his commute by fifteen nanoseconds as every other car flashes past two inches from your bar ends.
Great ride over today, all the workers was very friendly and welcoming, saying they was told to let no one to pass but they didn't seem to see anyone on bikes.
"Where are the roadworks"
They have resurfaced and finished the 30 mph zone about a mile down from the snake PH, but a lot of tree cut back, drystone walling and general tidying up going off.
