Having mostly trad and sport climbed over the past decade, I've done very little bouldering in the peak despite living within an hour of the eastern edges. After recovering from a couple of months plagued by injury and illness, I'm finally back in place where I feel I can try hard on the rock again and have become hooked by gritstone bouldering! I'm now at the point where I can get 7B done within a few attempts so I've started thinking about projecting my first 7C.

Has anyone got some recommendations for a first 7C on grit?

A bit about me: average height, strong on crimps, reasonable on compression, poor flexibility!

Poor flexibility - at least you can discount Brad Pit! 🤣

Maybe The Terrace The Terrace (f7C)?

Tetris (f7C)

Theres a good list on here: 7c - 8a

Both of the above are good shouts.

Birdsong (f7C), Pinch Punch (f7C) or any of the problems on that boulder.

Zaff Skoczylas (f7C) or Submergence (f7C) (the non-heel method) at Burbage.

Mossatrocity (f7C)

Brad's Wall (f7C)

Barry Sheene (f7C)

Thanks both for the recommendations, a great list to get stuck into! Submergence particularly looks ace

I'm going to add a few 7B+ problems into the mix alongside the 7Cs, simply because they're worth doing on the grounds that they're all amazing (even if they're not exactly what you're looking for).

7B+

The Storm (f7B+)
The Rib (f7B+)
Crystal Voyager (f7B+)
Flatworld (f7C)
Dick Williams (f7B)
Famous Grouse (f7B+)

7C

Tetris (f7C)one of the best boulder problems in the country, surely?!
Brass Monkeys (f7C) - classic 'soft touch' if you're tall, but less so if you're not
In the Flick of Time (f7C) - I thought this climbed really well at 7C
THEM! (f7C+)I love aretes (and I loved this)

There's probably a whole load of problems I'm forgetting, including 101 7Bs that if you haven't done them - should be on your to-do list - but that'll do for now

Thanks Rob, enough to keep me going for a lifetime there!

I thought Dick Williams was a good problem but I didn't think it was any harder than any of the 7As or 7A+s there.

Them! wasn't on my radar but it looks ace.
