Just read the article about the ascent of Asagimadara ~8C, by Ryuichi Murai. The route was first climbed by Tokio Muroi, WITHOUT PADS!! I simply cannot understand how it is possible to project really hard problems without pads and not end up with a broken everything.
I recall reading a number of other articles about people repeating his first ascents, all of which he seems to have done without pads.
I would be very interested in reading more about him but can't find much on google/UKC. Does anyone have any links to good articles/interviews/videos?
