Deep Rake Access

The described approach and parking to  Deep Rake above Hassop has been causing a few problems with the landowner. The parking described in a couple of places, including the printed peak Limestone Rockfax, is on private land and the landowner doesn't want people parking there. A suggested alternative closer to Rowland has very limited space. A new approach is as described below and should have no real problems since there is room on the verge of the road and the walk-in is only slightly longer than the old one.

Deep Rake new parking and approach
Drive south from Calver on the B6001 to Hassop. After 1km you reach the brow of the hill where there is parking on the left side of the road at a vague crossroads. Go up the track on the opposite side of the road for about 500m until you can see the quarry across the fields on the left. Go through gates and across to some footpegs on the northeast fence post to allow you to cross without weighting the wire.

In reply to Alan James - Rockfax:

Alan there is also another parking possibly a bit further away but without the slog up the steep hillside.

Moor Road has plenty of places to park and good views of High Rake, the big scary choss pit above Deep Rake.

Just rumours Simon. I suppose we have to define good! But yes I did spot areas of promise sandwiched between tottering piles.

I've always used the spot identified by Alan because of potential parking issues (and the fact that its easy to access after picking my daughter up at the station) and the slog is pretty minor to be honest.

Though there isn't that many spaces there so another option could be good.  On the other hand while it is a decent little crag it's not really big enough to support many parties so parking shouldn't be the real limit I guess.
