Ravens are nesting on Iron Crag near to If 6 was 9. Therefore there is a full crag restriction until 31 May. As with all restrictions it will be under review and lifted as soon as possible.

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for the information.

Can you still climb on the left hand crag? The one with Hiddenite on it? That crag has a different approach and is separated from the right hand crag (where 6 is 9 is) by a large chossy buttress.

In reply to Tom Ripley Mountain Guide:

There are a lot of Ravens all over the hillside, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were some nesting on that bit as well. They're scarily big to be honest - you wouldn't want to get in their way!

The only reported nest is however, as you say, a good distance from the more popular left-hand buttress, so I don't see how it would prohibit climbing there.

Perhaps the left side should remain open until any further sightings are made?

In reply to Trevor Langhorne:

Given the exact location of the nest climbing will be OK on the Left Hand Buttress.
